Instructor: James Greenblatt, MD
Suicide prevention cannot begin and end with crisis intervention. In this timely webinar, James Greenblatt, MD, explores emerging evidence demonstrating how biological factors—including nutritional and micronutrient deficiencies, inflammation, genetics, biochemical imbalances, and environmental influences—may contribute to suicidal thinking and behavior. Dr. Greenblatt will introduce clinicians to a broader, personalized framework for understanding suicide risk and discuss how identifying potentially modifiable biological contributors can complement conventional psychiatric assessment and treatment. Participants will leave with a new perspective on suicide prevention and practical considerations for expanding assessment beyond symptoms alone to better understand the individual patient and the factors that may be influencing risk.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this webinar, participants should be able to:
- Describe the role that nutritional, biochemical, genetic, inflammatory, and environmental factors may play in suicide risk.
- Identify key micronutrient deficiencies and other potentially modifiable biological factors associated with suicidal thinking and behavior.
- Explain how a personalized, biologically informed approach can complement conventional suicide risk assessment and psychiatric care.
- Discuss practical strategies for incorporating relevant biological and nutritional considerations into the clinical evaluation of patients at risk for suicide.
This webinar will also introduce the broader Psychiatry Redefined model of functional psychiatry education, including how clinicians can incorporate root-cause, biologically informed strategies into their current practice through the Psychiatry Redefined Fellowships.
All registrants will receive a link to watch the webinar recording post-event. Please note: Email reminders and replays are undeliverable to general emails (such as support@, info@ or admin@).
