We are proud to introduce our new certified Pediatric Functional and Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship, the first and only comprehensive training designed specifically for clinicians dedicated to transforming the mental health care of children, adolescents, and teens.
This Fellowship training, led by James Greenblatt, MD, and Nancy O’Hara, MD, MPH, and an esteemed group of global leaders in pediatric functional and integrative psychiatry, offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain expertise in the personalized, science-backed approaches that address the root cause diagnosis and treatment of child and adolescent mental illness. We focus on evidence-based functional medicine and nutritional and metabolic psychiatry interventions you can apply immediately to help your patients achieve lasting outcomes.
“The need for mental health professionals who can provide effective, whole-person treatment is more critical than ever. Parents are seeking alternatives to the multi-pharma model that focuses on symptom management, and only creates more symptoms and side effects. Clinicians now want to offer their young patients more effective, whole-person options too. There is a better way to provide mental health care. And we are training that new wave of leaders—the motivated and passionate clinicians who are ready to transform the trajectory of pediatric mental healthcare.”
James Greenblatt, MD
Founder & Chief Medical Officer
Why Enroll in the Psychiatry Redefined Fellowship:
The mental health challenges facing children and adolescents are distinct and complex, with unique stressors that compound genetic vulnerability, requiring more than a scaled-down approach to adult care. Young patients experience dynamic developmental, biological, and environmental factors that demand tailored assessments and interventions. Functional and integrative psychiatry focuses on uncovering root causes rather than managing symptoms, making it uniquely suited to address the rapidly increasing rates of conditions like anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and eating disorders in children.

What Sets This Child & Adolescent Integrative Psychiatry Training Apart?
This groundbreaking fellowship program is a comprehensive, specialized curriculum designed to address the unique challenges of pediatric mental health care. Participants will learn how to navigate the full spectrum of pediatric mental health using a functional, nutritional and integrative medicine framework for mental health support that ties directly into the nine clinical focus areas of this Fellowship:
- Cutting-edge strategies for identifying and addressing nutritional and biochemical imbalances, such as those covered in Nutritional Psychiatry & Gut Microbiome and Functional Medicine Testing.
- Functional and integrative medicine approaches for conditions like ADHD, autism, and mood disorders, building expertise in areas like ADHD & Disruptive Behavior Disorders, Neurodiversity, and Anxiety & Mood Disorders.
- Tools for managing complex cases, including those involving developmental delays, infections, and comorbid conditions, with a focus on areas such as Mold, Lyme & PANS/PANDAS , and Genetic Testing for Medication Management.
- Family-based interventions to create meaningful and sustainable change, addressing broader psychosocial dynamics tied to conditions like Eating Disorders and Suicide Prevention.
Why Enroll in the Pediatric Functional Psychiatry Fellowship?
We are facing an unprecedented crisis of mental illness in today’s children, adolescents, and teens. Nearly 50 percent of today’s youth meet the criteria for a psychiatric disorder by 18 years, with more than a quarter of these patients reporting disorders that result in significant impairment.
A pediatric-focused functional & integrative Fellowship is essential because it will help you:
- Uncover Unique Root Causes: The interplay of nutrition, environment, genetics, and family dynamics significantly impacts pediatric mental health.
- Address Developmental Nuances: Children’s brains and bodies constantly develop, and interventions must align with these critical growth windows.
- Identify Prevention Opportunities: Early interventions can prevent the escalation of mental health issues and promote long-term resilience.
- Support Family-Centered Care: Treating children often requires family collaboration to create sustainable and supportive environments and care that focuses on root cause, sustained recovery.
- Improve Patient Outcomes: Move away from symptom masking and pharmaceutical interventions, and apply holistic approaches that consider the full health picture—body, mind, and environment.
