Learn how to restore brain chemistry, balance blood sugar, and avoid relapse. Enroll now and gain functional and nutritional tools to help patients move past cravings to lasting recovery.

Detox and abstinence are only the start of recovery. Many clients stay stuck with cravings, mood swings and repeated relapse, and part of the reason is often biological: depleted neurotransmitters, unstable blood sugar and nutritional imbalances that no one has checked.

The Functional Nutrition for Addiction Treatment & Recovery Intensive Training gives mental health providers a practical introduction to using nutrition in addiction treatment. You’ll learn how to use targeted amino acid therapy to restore neurotransmitter function and ease withdrawal and cravings. You’ll also learn how to use blood sugar regulation to reduce relapse risk, and help clients make use of the recovery skills they’re building—and how to spot the hidden nutritional issues that can quietly work against sobriety.

Nutritionally oriented practices and programs have used these strategies for decades. Now you can learn how to use them in your current practice right away, whatever your role or treatment setting.

Stop treating addiction halfway. Support the body and the brain.

Functional Nutrition for Addiction Treatment & Recovery Training Curriculum

Explore the three-legged stool model (bionutritional, psychosocial and spiritual factors) of addiction and recovery, and what each requires for the best outcomes. Learn the latest research and examine case stories demonstrating how allergies and gluten intolerance, hormonal imbalances, pyroluria and fatty acid deficiency can drive relapse.
  • Module 2: Neurotransmitter Function and Repair Using Amino Acid Therapy
Learn how neurotransmitter depletion and down-regulation fuel tolerance and make addiction more severe. Follow as faculty reviews a structured, step-by-step approach to restoring neurotransmitters with targeted amino acid therapy, including the precautions you need to know.
  • Module 3: Blood Sugar Dysregulation and Relapse
Find out why missing a meal may be the main relapse trigger across all addictions. Learn how reactive hypoglycemia affects recovery, how to help clients identify helpful and harmful eating patterns, and how to prevent the common sugar addiction in early abstinence.
