The traditional model of prescribing medication first, on trial and error has not been sufficient in our current treatment of mental illness.

The rates of suicide have been skyrocketing year after year and patients have been desperately searching for alternative treatment approaches. If you are thinking to yourself, “there must be a better way to treat my mental health patients!” – you are right. There is a more effective, evidence based model.

Integrative psychiatry and functional psychiatry is changing the landscape of mental health treatment by addressing the underlying root causes of mental illness. Integrative psychiatry is transforming patient care, and empowering clinicians to adopt more effective, whole-body approaches.

Navigating the world of integrative functional psychiatry can seem like a daunting task. Psychiatry Redefined is dedicated to training clinicians on understanding the path to prescribing personalized treatment plans for your patients.

With our support, training, and mentoring, we will help you get started.

What is Integrative & Functional Psychiatry?

An integrative and functional approach to mental health is a whole-person approach to care. This approach targets the root causes of mental illness and the underlying chemistry. With functional medicine testing, we can identify nutritional deficiencies and metabolic imbalances. Functional and integrative approaches can be used in conjunction with medication or often, can eliminate the need for medication.

Mental health challenges can be seen as a reflection of multiple physiological imbalances, and should be treated as such. If we understand the causes of these imbalances, we can provide more effective treatment.

Why is Integrative Psychiatry and Functional Psychiatry Important?

Integrative and functional psychiatry focuses on personalized and root-cause treatment, rather than merely managing symptoms.

Every specialty in medicine relies on objective testing, so why should psychiatry be any different?

How Can I Start My Training in Integrative Psychiatry?

We are often asked by clinicians how they can apply integrative psychiatry into their practice. To get started, take a look at the comprehensive syllabus for our Functional & Integrative Psychiatry Fellowship. It is a carefully structured program to not only introduce you to integrative medicine for psychiatry, but a roadmap for care and success.

If you have further questions about how you can utilize the Fellowship program in your career, schedule a private 1:1 call with Dr. James Greenblatt, MD, who has over 30 years of experience training clinicians in Integrative Psychiatry.

What is provided in the Fellowship program?
