Overview

This webinar will begin with a look at what “essential” really means within the context of nutritional science and human biology, as well as the practical implications of the laws of essential nutrition in modern medicine. Next, Dr. Patterson will explore the pleiotropic roles of magnesium, with a focus on how the mineral supports brain function via effects on neurotransmission and cell membrane function. Research highlighting robust associations between magnesium deficiency, depression, anxiety, and sleep dysfunction will be presented, alongside studies demonstrating the significant therapeutic utility of magnesium supplementation for these and other mental illnesses. Finally, Dr. Patterson will present evidence-based recommendations for magnesium testing – with an emphasis on Trace Mineral Hair Analysis – and nutritional supplementation to support brain health, cognition, and mood.
