Drugs used to treat mental health often have negative side effects including addiction, depression, suicide, seizures, sexual dysfunction, headaches and more. These medications do not restore normal levels of neurotransmitters, but manipulate chemicals in the brain. Instead of using drugs, there are herbs that have anxiolytic properties which can stimulate neurotransmitters and naturally adjust brain chemistry without the side effects that come from standard medications.
Herbal anxiolytics are useful as both standalone and adjunctive treatments for mental health diagnoses, such as depression and anxiety — and may already be in you or your patients’ homes. In this webinar, Naturopathic Doctor, Orna Izakson will discuss some common herbs in this category and review how, when, and why to use them in day-to-day care.
