Over the last decades, incidence rates of psychiatric disorders have skyrocketed, reflecting an unprecedented surge of medical burden that psychiatry seems increasingly ill-equipped to address. In this webinar Dr. James Greenblatt will explore how a Functional and Integrative Medicine approach offers a solution to these challenges. Along with lifestyle, dietary, and/or psychotherapeutic modalities, Functional and Integrative Medicine interventions prioritizing the correction of nutritional deficiencies are more likely to address the root causes of mental illness successfully than are traditional symptom → drug models.
Join Dr. Greenblatt as he explores how functional and integrative medicine can offer psychologists, therapists, counselors, and social workers new treatment avenues for mental illness by addressing biochemical imbalances that contribute to pathology. He will introduce the key tenets of Functional and Integrative Medicine as they apply to mental illness, and examine the risks, potential side-effects, and benefits of nutritional supplementation aligned with a systems biology model. Finally, he will discuss how this approach presents today’s therapists with a path to the standard of care we all deserve, a path illuminated by science and upheld by the mandates of conscientious, personalized medicine.
